We awoke to gray skies and a definite bitter cold covering Tijuana this morning, but nothing could hamper our excitement as we prepared for our first program of PMC (Project Merry Christmas).
It has not be any means been a perfect day as the Pastor who was suppose to come for us did not arrive. Scott and I decided to take a load over to the church and then go back for whoever the Pastor could not fit in his car. Upon our arrival at the church we were greeted by the Pastor who then explained he was having car trouble and he could not get his car started. Now, I understood why he did not show up at our prearranged hour. Then he went on to explain he also ran out of gas for the stove and was headed to buy a tank right now. Then he mentioned he would also bring back with him the water we needed to make the juice for the kids to have with their lunch.
I smiled to myself and said a prayer for the Lord to help us get through this day without any more incidents or mishaps. I just thank God Scott was home to help us out today. Praise God, he knew and had us covered, God is so good!
Well truly everything else went off without a hitch. We had a great program with a clown and games, songs and a puppet show and to top off the day super nachos and gifts. We only had 30 children because the rains have been torrential and not many in this area can get out of their houses in this kind of rain let alone make to the church. But, still the day was blessed and we all had a good time.
My team is awesome and I am so blessed and proud of them and how they worked and behaved today.
Well this is one down and six more to go. It seemed today the favorite gift of the day was the soccer balls and porcelain doll. I thought the little girl who got the doll was going to cry. She told me a voice of pure awe that her Mama was going to love this. I said to her, I do not care if her Mama loves it or not I want her to get a gift she will love. She looked at me with huge eyes, a little like maybe I was crazy but managed to say she too would love it and take good care of it.
God is so good and the kids truly were blessed and everyone was happy and thankful, even if it did rain like cats and dogs.
Thanks for your support for this program and us here in Tijuana Mexico.
Love and God bless you,
